On December 1 Roy Scarisbrick coordinated an EVCC mountain bike ride on Nose Hill for seven participants. Before the event Maria asked him to give everyone a warning that instead of saying the trails were just “hard-packed snow” that they were truly “icy” as well. I gave everyone that warning and suggested that studded tires were a good idea.
We met on the west side of the park and rode a peripheral tour, going clockwise. I live near Nose Hill Park and have ridden there a lot this fall. I led the group up and down every twisty, hilly, icy trail I could think of. Most of the group were on studs and the entire group rode absolutely everything with passion, strength, and skill. The usual type of EVCC riders I would say. Nothing deterred the group: snow, ice, descents, and climbs.
The comments were that everyone had a blast and the trails were a heap of fun. What a great bunch to ride with!
