Tuesday, July 12 was a hot sunny day and 24 cyclists set out from the Ghost Lake recreation parking lot on highway 1A, riding to highway 40 (Forestry Trunk Road) and following the highway to the end of the pavement with a side trip on Richards Roads. The road crosses the Ghost River which is an excellent lunch stop. The roads are quiet on weekdays making for an excellent outing. RVs and other large recreational vehicles make this a non-starter on weekends. Weekend warriors should take a weekday off work to explore this enjoyable cycling trip.
This is always a popular ride and should be scheduled more frequently given the large numbers of cyclists. However, RVs and other large recreational vehicles make this a non-starter on weekends but it is certainly worth taking a weekday off to explore the Ghost River area.
Unfortunately, I was delayed at the start and had a subsequent flat and chain problem so I wasn't able to take any pictures with the group. I was generally near the end and at the end. I've included some scenery pictures from past years to give you an idea of what awaits an adventure on this road.
