Tuesday, July 14, was a fantastic day to ride from Castle Junction to Lake Louise and to Moraine Lake. Cloudless skis, warm temperatures and generally light winds made for a great cycling day for ten cyclists. Highway 1A had light traffic; the Moraine Lake road has light traffic as the road is now gated to limit access once the parking lot fills up. The short ride up and down the road to Lake Louise had surprisingly light traffic as well, probably because of the roam buses and the parking fees to use the parking lot at the lake.
I have been running a number of rides that start (or end) in the Lake Louise area to explore some of the great scenic views in this area of Banff NP. These rides included a trip to Emerald Lake, along the entire 1A highway, and a trip to Bow Summit and the Peyto Lake viewpoint. I would like to run one more ride from Lake Louise to Takakkaw Falls in Yoho, preferably when the TransCanada is again closed for construction. As this is slated to start Sept. 26, weather may prevent this ride or require me to run it earlier after the vacation period ends at Labour Day.
Thanks to Susan Gillies for the pictures. My phone camera was acting up that day (and still is).
