With many doubts about the weather, Brenda Kiley went ahead with the smokie roast at Edworthy Park.  Somehow the rain clouds detoured for our traditional evening of bon fires and smokies on sticks, chips, marshmallows and watermelon, thoughtfully laid out by Brenda and one of our newest members, Nancy Baxter, who kept the food appearing through the evening at pace with the crowd.  The smokies and buns were delivery systems for sauerkraut, red cabbage, pickles, onions and various other tasty condiments.
A wonderful reunion of veteran EVCCers mixed with new members discussed favourite rides, what was in the works, and of course the weather.  Brenda Kiley and Tony Lamb did procurement, firewood supplied by Andrea Walter and canopy emblazoned with "Elbow Valley Cycle Club" supplied with sand bags by Doug McColluch.  Rafael Borredo cut watermelon took photos, cleaned up, and with Merv Matson carried heavy stuff and helped where ever needed.
Thanks to Brenda the crew for making this another memorable social and keeping the smokie roast tradition alive!
And thank you to Don Hollingshead, whose patience, involvement, and incredible organization get us all through these special events.
