Thirteen enthusiastic cyclists left Fenlands for a perfect ride to Baker Creek on the 1A. Of course, the first part of 1A is closed to traffic and the pavement is really nice, so there were lots of smiles. Even on the part of the road past Castle Junction where the road is open to traffic, we only saw about 4 cars. A special gift was light winds in both directions! The usual sheep were on the road but there was also a small bear along the way, who held up some riders as he decided whether he was crossing the road or not. All riders went the full 92 km to Baker Creek and some of us had a scenic lunch beside the creek while others opted for being closer to the store. Everyone arrived safely back at the parking and several folks stayed around to tell stories, while a few went to dip their feet in the very cold water nearby.
