Haskayne Lee Workun Memorial Ride, Easy to Intermediate, 24.1 km, 228 m, SusanChadwick

Ride Level: Easy pace.

Route description: 

To honor and in memory of Lee (Oct 3,1937-Apr 16,2026) we will ride along the paved path through open meadows and treed areas overlooking the Bow River from Haskayne Legacy Park to Glenbow Ranch and beyond.   Lee often said this was her favorite ride and it was her last ride in November 2025 with her family.

Lee led "muffin rides" from her home in MacEwan serving muffins to participants at the end of the ride.  I will bring some muffins for a snack.  

There are some hills so be prepared if you are not riding an e-bike. 

Location:

Drive west on the 1A highway from Calgary and turn South on Woodlands Road NW.  There are no lights at the turn.  Drive until you enter the parking lot.   Use the link below to load a google map.

Operations:

• The ride will have a sweep and regroup at intervals. No one will be left behind. 
• Wear a helmet and bring spare tire and tools.
• Bring a snack (I will bring muffins) and water. 
• It will be helpful if you arrive 15 minutes before the start for bike preparation, meet and greet, and a quick safety drill.
• E-Bikes are welcome.

Non-members: are welcome as guests. They must fill out the waiver on our website under the Join Us/Guest Waiver and email it to guest@elbowvalleycc.org. Members can sponsor and register one guest. Unsponsored guests will be registered as guests of the coordinator after receipt of their waivers.

Waitlist: If you find the ride filled, you are encouraged to put your name on the waitlist. The chances are that you will replace a cancellation done automatically.

Cancellation: Suppose you are signed up and find you have to cancel. Please do so as soon as you know to leave space for someone else.  Suppose it is necessary to cancel because of weather or another reason. In that case, I will notify you on this page and by Email or telephone by 8 am on the event day.
