In the past we've ridden this event from the east end of the TransAlta Road to the dam end of the Lake. This year we'll skip the gravel road part, shortening the trip from 50 km to 35 km. It will take about six hours.

You should only register for this event if you regularly ride all or part of the Lake Minnewanka trail.

We'll ride from the end of the TransAlta Road, through Devil's Gap, and along Lake Minnewanka. It is about 35 km on singletrack. The route is rough, with washouts, boulder fields, blowdowns. Some sections have a slide-slope.

See https://www.trailforks.com/trails/minnewanka for a description. This is a one-way trip. It is not an out-and-back or loop. There are no shortcuts.

Register now to show interest. Later in the summer we'll see what kind of transportation we need: friends; or transportation company. We'll drive up the forestry trunk road north of Cochrane, drive the TransAlta Road and ride west from the top of the bank overlooking the Ghost.

See https://headwaysystems.com/galleryserverpro/default.aspx?aid=81 for pictures of the 2025 event.

No e-bikes. We need to be able to carry our bikes in places on this route. Also, according to https://parks.canada.ca/pn-np/ab/banff/activ/cyclisme-biking/veloselectriques-ebikes e-bikes and pedal-assist bikes are not permitted on the Minnewanka trail.

Please note:  To cancel your registration, make sure you are signed into the system, click on the "already registered" button, then click the "Cancel Registration" button.
