Day 1

Today’s ride takes us on a breathtaking journey through the mountains, following the Athabasca River and climbing over the Sunwapta Pass. We will be treated to incredible views of Bridal Falls cascading down, Parker Ridge, and the icy expanse of the Athabasca Glacier. Our turnaround point is the awe-inspiring Columbia Icefield Skywalk, where glass-bottomed walkways provide a thrilling perspective of the valley below (tickets can be purchased) On our return, the scenery transforms, offering a fresh but equally spectacular view.

Day 2

Our route today takes us past Mistaya Canyon and Waterfowl Lakes.  As we continue climbing higher the towering peaks frame our route as we reach the highest point on the Parkway “Bow Summit”. Then onto Peyto Lake a true jewel of the Rockies with stunning views of glacial-blue water against dark green forest in the valley below. If our energy holds there’s an additional option to descend to Bow Lake the pristine headwaters of the Bow River.  This is an opportunity to climb Bow Summit from both sides an unforgettable challenge & adventure in the heart of the Canadian Rockies.

Day 3

Leaving Rampart Creek, we head south along the Icefields Parkway, surrounded by the rugged peaks of the Rockies.  From Saskatchewan River Crossing we turn east onto the David Thompson Highway, following the winding path of the icy blue North Saskatchewan River.  In the distance, a brilliant flash of turquoise appears—Abraham Lake, its glacial waters shimmering under the vast Alberta sky. Our turnaround point is at David Thompson Resort.  We will make our way back along the same route with the ever looming Rockies as our guide.

I plan to Camp at Rampart Creek Campground.
