Ghost Riders in the Sky (Waiparous), intermediate/advanced, 77km,Lyle O, Sal F.

NOTE: The registration limit has been increased and two groups will leave a few minutes apart. Sal Faoro will be the coordinator for the second group.

NOTE: Due to hot weather, the ride time has been moved up.

This was a very popular ride through ranching country last year. It certainly fits in with the theme for rides during Stampede week.

From the Ghost Lake parking lot, we head East on 1A for 4.5 km, then north and northwest on 40 through Waiparous. At km 28, turn left on Richards Road and cycle to the end of the pavement. As an option, at the intersection with Richards Road, you can turn right and continue on 40 to the end of the pavement, about 4 km, before turning around and proceeding on Richards road.  Return home on 40 and 1A the way you came.

This is a scenic ride on quiet roads in the foothills.  A good spot to stop for lunch is on the south approach to the wooden bridge about 6 k from the turn around point on Richards Road.  There will be no sweep. We will have a tailgate party in the parking lot at the end of the ride.
