New Brighton and Douglasdale 31

Coordinator: Peter Bradbury

This is an easy ride with one hill to warm up the season.

Starting from the Ranch, the route crosses the Bow on the Mackenzie Bridge, skirts Mackenzie Lake, and does a loop tour of Prestwick and its pond. After that the route goes through Inverness, visiting the lake, some Georgian architecture, neat housing, and the McKenzie Towne Hill and Lookout. The route next takes in the New Brighton pathways and lakes. We stop for a picnic lunch at a table close to Tim Horton’s. Afterward, the route descends rapidly through Douglasdale, crosses the Bow River on the Douglasdale Park Bridge, and finishes along the Deer Ridge and Deer Run bikeway before re-entering Fish Creek Park. The ride is on bike friendly streets and lightly used pathways.

We will have regrouping at intervals and a sweep.  You can bring lunch or buy it at Tim Horton’s. Bring a mask and gloves in case of a flat or other accident. Please arrive 15 minutes before start.
