A light hearted hands on session in my man cave. Bring an outdoor chair if you wish to sit. We'll start with a short anatomy of a ski, including ski base structure. We will classify skis from a large quiver from Nordic Race Classic all the way to Alpine and clarify some terms, especially ones that have changed. What makes a ski slide and grip. Why is the binding mounted where it is? What do all the numbers mean?

Then all you ever wanted to know about waxing but were afraid to ask. What is the most important info in picking a grip wax? It isn't temperature.  How to glide wax, how to grip wax, how to remove wax. Why I never carry a scraper and what I carry instead. Besides chocolate.

There will be a contest for the person who can bring the skis with the most revolting collection of old wax, dirt and pine needles on them. Must be legitmately acquired, no glueing cigarette butts to a ski. The winner will get a clean glide waxed ski, prepped for grip wax. We'll probably wax a few pairs so feel free to bring some, revolting or not.

My info comes from current dogma of Cross Country Alberta, Nordiq Canada and Alberta World Cup Society (all of which I belong to). My opinion is that we should go skiing. Look for Nordic I intro to Nordic Classic day in and if you are interested in it try to attend this.
