Coordinator: Jeff Dashkin

Ride Type: Road Ride, intermediate to advanced, pace 20-23km/h (coordinator is at the slow end of that pace).

Distance: 78.5 km

Elevation: 600 m

Can be windy!

We ride along Hwy 22 for 15km (6km on the way to Cochrane, 9km on the return). The shoulder is wide, but there can be lots of traffic and the speed limit is 100km/h.  If this bothers you, this ight not be the ride for you.

Meet at the parking lot for West Side Church Parking Lot, just east of 69th Street SW and just north of Glenmore Trail at 9:45 for a 10:00 sharp departure. We will head west on Springbank Blvd and 85 street to Lower Springbank Road and Springbank Road. After a quick regroup and bathroom stop at Sprinkbank Park for All Season, we will head north on RR33, cross the TransCanada at Calaway Park, to Springbank Airport Road, west to Hwy 22. North on 22, a detour through a residential community takes us across the old wooden bridge to Gentry's for coffee/tea. On our return trip we climb the hill along Hwy 22 to Springbank Airport Road and generally follow the same route back. Except.....when we get back to 101st we will cross Glenmore, take the back way into Griffin Woods (might include 50 yards of gravel riding/walking) and exit Discovery Ridge at 69th Street back to our start.

Don't forget to bring some cash or credit card for coffee, tea or snacks in Cochrane.

Map shows the "standard" route, but we may have to detour up 85st to avoid Glenmore construction, adding 1km and 200 feet of climbing to the ride.
